General information

As German offshore industry center Cuxhaven is already leading location for production, assembly and logistics services for offshore wind turbines. The Universal Port can three important functions for wind energy take: So Cuxhaven acted already in a number of European offshore wind projects as a production port for foundations and towers. With the establishment of the new plant of Siemens Wind Power, this will in future be for turbines and nacelles of Generation 7.0 and larger the case. The company Ambau is already working for two production sites for foundation structures and tower sections at Cuxhaven.

Centrally located to the offshore wind farms in the North Sea Cuxhaven provides a powerful infrastructure and superstructure as a special offshore terminal with gantry crane, a heavy duty platform, and two RoRo ramps with a load capacity of up to 350 tons directly on seagoing fairway of the Elbe.
Regular RoRo shipping services from Cuxhaven as to Immingham, Esbjerg and Norway the wind energy industry can also be used for transporting heavy components.

Currently under construction is the berth 4, this is a multi-purpose terminal at the deep waters of the Elbe in the extension of Cuxport terminals. The new anchorage offers excellent conditions for the handling of wind energy components and for the car cover and other goods. The quay length of 240 meters is suitable for ships with a maximum draft of 14.30 meters. The Cuxport terminal is connected through the existing heavy duty road to the German offshore industry center.

Furthermore, stands before the expansion of berth 9 in offshore base port. Here are the future five berths available. Plan is to build a solid RoRo ramp made of concrete with a capacity of more than 1000 tons for the rolling of heavy cargo.

The excellent accessibility offshore section of the wide fairway of the Elbe allows the shipment of preassembled rotor stars.

Port near industrial and commercial areas with direct motorway and rail connection are still available for the offshore industry.

Vocational skills training for workers of the offshore wind energy industry complete the offer of offshore basis Cuxhaven.
